SHACHARIT

Collaboration with Roni Kim & Noa Shimhiof Shahaf

The installation intervenes in time and space in two main ways. The first is an architectural material intervention, in which we wrapped the gallery's vitrine in foam, and rebuilt the structure as a soft    facade. The second is a soundtrack of Shachar Hasson, a well known Israeli comedian recites a lucid guidance meditation to the passersby of the street.

The work seeks to spread compassion to the people walking in the noisy and dense reality of the inner city of Tel Aviv. The padded vitrine is a soft monolith, inviting to the touch as it blocks and hides. The cloned voice that recites and sings is calming, at times comical, but also creates a suffocating intimacy. Hasson in known to be sord of a sad clown that “gives it all” on stage, and the experience of listening to his glitching familiar voice is between comforting and threatening.
