Lovers Moloch
A sculptural installation, an autarkic temple where a farewell ceremony for a couple can be
carried out. Taking in mind the bodily proportions, tactility and sensual urge, each sculpture
in the installation also functions as a religious object. By incorporating industrial design and
manual work, I combine motifs from the ancient Mesopotamian belief systems and
consumeristic seduction.
Moloch Bed
Wood, foam, fabric, MDF, glass, led, copper, silicon, yellow stick trap, two flies
135x114x195cm
This work is the main altar in the installation Lovers Moloch. In this altar, stands the Lovers Moloch figurine, a representation of the pagan god in whose honour the worship takes place. The materiality of the Moloch ranges between organic fur and plastic, it is black and dark but also graceful, like a toy-merchandise. It is made out of silicon I've managed to sneak from Israel Missile Industry and reflects on the original sacrifices to the Mesopotamian Moloch. Its belly is yellow and glowing, inviting flies to it and trapping them in its glue.

The Incense Altar in Lovers Moloch installation that marks the area of the sacrifice ritual with its scent. The saturated colours of the work refer to their specific combination in nature, which signals toxicity. The vessel consists of two parts: an oil reservoir, connected to a nozzle from which the fire burns, heating its second part - a small bowl with essential oils and gallium - a metallic element that melts at room temperature. The heated oils release a soothing scent into the space as the gallium functions like a bubbling mirror, reflecting the lovers who kneel down, and perform the ceremony.
